Adoptions & Events
We do not have any events planned at this time, however please check our adoptable kitties on Petfinder. We have many wonderful cats that are in need of good homes.
Returning a MC Kitty
MCRescue recognizes that occasionally, life changes cause the return of a cat that was adopted through us. We ask that you allow us to take the cat back into our care and rehome it as we did originally. Click here for more information.

MCRescue is a very small, family-run group specializing in placing Maine coon mixes into approved homes. All of our cats are spayed/neutered prior to placement if they are more than six months old. They are FeLuk/FIV tested and up-to-date on shots. Additionally the cats have been seen by a vet and treated for fleas, ear mites, etc. as necessary. We have no shelter but provide for these cats in our own homes. We are non-profit and survive on donations only. All donations are used to help cover vet costs.
Donations
MCRescue is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. This means that any donation you make to help the cats in our foster care is tax deductible. Everyone wins!
Do you shop online? Please remember that when you shop at IGive, your regular purchases from hundreds of online stores will benefit MCRescue. Just go to IGive.com to register. Also the percentage that is donated to MCRescue is tax-deductible for you!
MCRescue’s Special Project - Friends of Laney
A number of years ago MCRescue learned of a farmer in Southern Maryland who sold his farm. He had “working” cats on the farm. When he sold the farm, he left the cats behind to fend for themselves.
These cats migrated to the yard of a sympathetic neighbor. The neighbors, Ray and Sharon, had never owned a cat because Ray was very allergic to them. Nevertheless, they began the relentless and expensive project of getting all 12 cats spayed, neutered and up-to-date on their vet care. Prior to coming to Ray and Sharon, these cats had never been seen by a vet. Ray has even built them a shed of their own so they can get out of the bad weather. Indeed, the cats have become part of a colony that this couple cares for at their 15-acre home. Often someone will drop off a pregnant female. Ray and Sharon then must start the process over again to trap, spay/neuter the mom and kittens.
Three of the cats, Ike, Mike and Midnight, have feline leukemia (“FeLuk”). Ray and Sharon made the decision to allow these three cats to live in their finished rec room in their basement. The cats are well cared for and rule their living area. They are safe from infecting the other cats and again, will have all the vet care they need to live out their lives. MCRescue would like to help this couple in their efforts to care for these cats.
This foster space is not MCRescue’s but truly a special project that we would like to help. Consequently, we do not have authority to take in cats to be added to this colony or FeLuk hospice. Our hope is to financially support the efforts of this couple. Your contribution will go towards food and vet care for these 12 cats. The cats have a home for the rest of their lives. Now they just need your support.
If you choose to help this couple with their feline project, please send your donations, payable to MCRescue, with a note saying the funds are to support “Friends of Laney.” No amount is too small, and all funds support the cats. We’ll even try to get you a picture of “Biggie,” the Maine coon mix sitting on “his” tractor! The tractor’s license says “Ray” but Biggie can’t read!
